THE owner of a salon in Basingstoke has been left in shock after vandals smashed the windows of her beauty shop.

Police were called to Bombshell Hair and Beauty, in Greenlands Road, at shortly after 8pm on Saturday, August 20, after receiving reports that the shop had been targeted.

Offenders did not enter the store, and nothing was stolen, but 12 windows were broken during the incident.

Salon owner Marie Harrington came across the damage as she went to open on Saturday.

She said: “I came into the salon on Saturday and saw that all the windows had been smashed. It was a bit of a shock and has made me feel quite anxious because I just can’t understand why someone would want to do that.

“The whole front of our shop is glass, so it has been smashed from the front all the way round to the side.

“The girls who work here are all quite young and they all work very hard, so it has come as a bit of a shock to them as well.

“We really want to find out who did this. We have seen CCTV that shows the vandals smashing up the windows."

Marie does not yet know how much it will cost to replace the damaged windows and is awaiting an insurance quote.

In the CCTV footage seen by the Gazette two people can be clearly seen smashing the windows of the shop.

She added: "The damage will be a lot because it is all glass. We have had lots of messages of support since the incident with people wanting to help, which has been really nice.

"We have been here seven years and we have never had any problems before this incident."
