A SHOP in Old Basing was robbed at knife point recently.

The Co-op, in Linden Avenue, was the scene of the robbery on August 6.

An eyewitness said: "Such a serious and traumatic incident that you do not expect when just popping into your local shop to grab some milk.

"I had to witness a cashier at knife threat, demanding cash who was on foot.

"I alerted this crime to police within couple minutes we had five patrol cars circling the area.

"We want to make others residents in area aware of what happens in their local shop as this is not the first time it has happened as one of their staff members mentioned.

"Customers for your own safety, please continue shopping but be very vigilant of your surroundings.

"If you were there at time then please come forward and inform the police."

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Officers are investigating following a robbery at the Co-op, Linden Avenue, Old Basing on August 6.

"At 5.25pm a man entered the store while holding a knife.

"He approached the till area and demanded money from the cashier. The cashier handed over a quantity of cash and the man then left the store.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Hampshire Constabulary on 101 quoting 44220317809."
