• A BASINGSTOKE man has been handed a community order after he assaulted four emergency workers in the town.

On May 12, 2022, Stuart Johnston, of Attwood Close, assaulted two detention officers by beating them.

On the same date, the 44-year-old assaulted a nurse and a doctor at Basingstoke hospital.

Johnston also caused criminal damage to a police van.

He pleaded guilty to all five charges and, at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on July 25, was handed a community order comprising a nine-month drug rehabilitation programme and up to 20 rehabilitation activity days.

He must also pay four lots of £50 in compensation, and a £95 surcharge.

  • A HOOK man has been ordered to complete unpaid work after driving while disqualified in London.

In March, Danny Seabrook, of Rowlandson Way, drove a white Ford Fiesta on Sipson Road, West Drayton, while disqualified from holding a licence.

The 34-year-old pleaded guilty on July 8 and, on July 27 at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, was handed a community order.

He must complete 60 hours of unpaid work and was disqualified from driving for six months.

Seabrook must also pay £85 in costs and a £95 surcharge.

  • A HOOK man has been fined hundreds of pounds for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) on three occasions.

Robert Coombes, of Lower Common, Eversley, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on July 28, where he pleaded guilty to three breaches of the order, which had been put in place by Winchester Crown Court on September 29, 2017.

Between January 1 and April 9 2022, Coombes had deleted the history of internet use from his Samsung Galaxy phone.

On April 9, the 67-year-old was further found to be in possession of a USB stick capable of storing images.

He also used a Nokia G10 phone between August 19, 2021 and April 9, 2022, which he had not informed police of within the required 72 hours from acquisition.

Magistrates handed Coombes fines of £379 on each of the charges, plus a £118 surcharge and costs of £85.

  • A BASINGSTOKE man has been ordered to complete unpaid work after causing hundreds of pounds of damage to another man's Tesla.

On October 3, 2021, Martin Otti, of Boyce Close, damaged a Tesla Model S, belonging to another man in the town, to the value of £640.

On the same date, the 40-year-old assaulted a woman by beating her.

Otti pleaded not guilty to both charges on December 20, 2021, but was found guilty on June 10, 2022.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on July 28, he was handed a community order comprising 100 hours of unpaid work and up to 25 rehabilitation activity days.

He must also pay compensation of £640, costs of £640 and a £95 surcharge.

  • A BASINGSTOKE woman has been disqualified from driving after drink driving and assaulting two emergency workers on one day in the town.

On July 15, 2021, Georgia Lawler, of Appleton Drive, drove on Sark Way to Appleton Drive, with 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The legal limit is 35.

On the same day, the 31-year-old assaulted one male and one female police officers by beating them.

Lawler initially denied the charges, but changed her pleas to guilty on July 17, 2022.

At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on July 28, she was handed a community order comprising a 44-month driving disqualification and 10 rehabilitation activity days.

She must also pay compensation of £75 to each of the two victims.
