LOCATIONS in Basingstoke have been “earmarked” as potential sites for a new football stadium.

Basingstoke Town Community Football Club have begun discussions with borough councillors to find ‘a like-for-like replacement’ for the Camrose. 

The club played at the Camrose ground for more than 70 years until it was evicted by former chairman Rafi Razzak in 2016.

In May Mr Razzak and his company Basron Developments Ltd were granted permission on appeal to demolish the stadium and build a housing development and care home.

The club currently plays at the Winklebury Football Complex, but current chairman Jack Miller has said that it ‘needs a home of their own’. 

Two sites have so far been earmarked for a potential new stadium - Basingstoke Leisure Park and Manydown - according to Mr Miller.
