PART of the A339 in Basingstoke is currently blocked in both directions following a crash.

The A339 is blocked in both directions between Hackwood Lane and Bushywarren Lane due to the two vehicle crash, which happened at 8.24am on August 10.

There is currently heavy traffic in both directions, which is building.

ROMANSE who provide travel updates from Hampshire tweeted: "A339 #Basingstoke - Alton Rd is BLOCKED in both directions between Hackwood Ln and Bushywarren Ln due to an RTI, heavy delays in both directions building."

They have since confrimed that Alton Road has been closed while emergency services deal with the incident.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police, added: "We were called at 8.24am this morning to reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A339 at Winslade.

"Minor injuries have been reported and the road has been partially closed while recovery teams clear the road."

Meanwhile AA Traffic News reports: "Road blocked, crash, queueing traffic. Road blocked and queueing traffic due to crash on A339 both ways from Bushywarren Lane to Hackwood Lane. Affecting traffic between Basingstoke and Alton."

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service were also on scene.

A spokesperson added: "Basingstoke firefighters were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Alton Road in Winslade at 8:28 this morning. 

"Crews worked to release on casualty from one of the cars before they were handed over to South Central Ambulance Service paramedics. 

"HIWFRS left scene and returned to station following the stop message at 9:03."
