ONE arrest has been made after a man suffered serious injuries from being punched and kicked to the ground.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following reports of an assault on Victoria Road, Aldershot.

At 10.51pm on Sunday, August 7, officers received a call to a report of an incident near the Victoria Food & Wine shop.

It had been reported that a group of men had been involved in an altercation inside the store.

A man in his 40s was punched and kicked to the ground. He has suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries but are now appealing to the public for help.

A Hampshire COnstabulary spokesperson said: "Did you see an incident taking place within Victoria Food & Wine?

"Were you in the shop or area between 10pm and 11pm? Did you witness or see any unusual activity on the road during that time?

"Do you have any CCTV images, doorbell or dash-cam footage that could help our investigation?

"Officers believe this was an isolated incident and would like to reassure the local community that they are taking this report extremely seriously."

As part of enquiries, a 36-year-old man from Hayes has been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm with intent.
