A BASINGSTOKE man has been found not guilty of the murder of another man in Popley in January.

As previously reported, Jordan Clarke, 26, of no fixed abode, stood trial for just over two weeks at Winchester Crown Court, accused of the murder of 22-year-old Troy Harkness.

Harkness was found seriously injured in Abbey Road, near the junction with Popley Way, on January 19.

He was taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Clarke denied a charge of murder.

On Tuesday, August 9, the jury were sent out for deliberations at approximately 3pm.

Less than an hour later, they returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty.

Clarke was discharged.
