One of the award categories is The Environmental Responsibility Award.

The Environmental Responsibility Award gives businesses the opportunity to showcase their journey in embedding sustainable practice into their operation. All businesses need to consider their carbon footprint and to review how they work and make responsible decisions, that keep the balance between environmental impact and commercial benefit. Businesses entering the award need to demonstrate they are:

Criteria:

  • An organisation with a clear sustainable business strategy
  • An organisation progressing towards 'Green' objectives in order to have a positive impact on the environment
  • An organisation that has taken steps to promote the wider green economy to its employees, customers and stakeholders
  • An organisation that is fully committed to improving its environmental performance and efficient use of resources

The award is sponsored by Vitacress Salads, previous winners of the award and are real standard bearers for working with the natural environment.

Basingstoke Gazette:

Amy Collins, HSE Manager at Vitacress Salads, said:“Vitacress Salads is proud to be sponsoring the award for Environmental responsibility for the fourth year running. The award will recognise the business which has reduced its environmental impact – something very close to our hearts at Vitacress.

"As a grower and processor of fresh produce, we depend on our natural resources and it’s critical that our people care for and endeavour to protect our environment. We commit to making decisions for sustainable growth and are determined to leave things better than we found them. We believe that every other business can do something to improve their environmental footprint.

"Therefore, we’ll be looking for those who have made a real commitment to this and have shown real leadership in this important area.”

Last year the award was won by Disatercare for their work in restoring and refurbishing items damaged by flood or fire and for the environmentally responsible processes they use.
