TEENAGER Dubs Wood shone with bat and ball and Joe Oates hit an unbeaten half-century as Basingstoke & North Hants cruised to a five-wicket win over Southern Premier Division 1 rivals Ventnor at May’s Bounty.
Wood took 4-30 and later hit 49 as Basingstoke chased down 185 to win with time to spare.
His four wickets included Ventnor top run scorers Martin Blackman (60) and Ross Whyte (37), the islanders losing their last six wickets for 36 runs, having been 149-4.

Wood then made a patient 49 but was among five wickets to fall before Oates (51 not out) and Brad Neal (30 not out) came together to steer their side to victory.
Basingstoke seconds secured a precious 124-run victory over winless Purbrook to move to within one point of Trojans at the foot of Division 3
Matt Donaldson (30), Harith Jayakody (29), Neil Shelar (29) and Laurence Benge (28) guided Basingstoke to 202 before Tyler Bradley produced a season’s best 5-48 and Donaldson 3-1 as Purbrook collapsed to 78 all out.
