A CAR flipped onto its side after crashing into railings on a busy road.
The silver vehicle smashed into railings on Harbour Parade earlier this afternoon, blocking both lanes of West Quay Road during rush hour.
A small crowd gathered on the inbound carriageway to watch and take pictures of the damaged car.
Debris was scattered on the road and pavement.
Police confirmed they were called out shortly before 4.30pm.
Only one vehicle was involved.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service also responded.
A crew from St Mary's was sent out to make the scene safe.
A spokesperson from the fire service said one person was being checked over by paramedics.
The road has now been cleared and both lanes have reopened.
UPDATE: Westquay Road Inbound is now clear following the earlier RTI. Both lanes open.
