INCREDIBLE scarecrows were on display in Overton, with prizes given out for the best ones over the weekend.

The array of scarecrows were proudly on show in Overton for the Scarecrow Festival, which took place from Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17.

There was also a competition to crown the best scarecrow and visitors were encouraged to explore the village and look at all the amazing creations.

Ward councillor for Overton, Cllr Colin Phillimore described the event as “absolutely marvellous”.

He said: “It is just a marvellous event supported by the village and all the proceeds of the event are distributed to sports and recreation clubs in the village. All the clubs take part and it is just marvellous.

“It is a real community event and it is a real credit to the hard work organisations put in to make it happen.”

On July 15, the event kicked off with the fancy dress Wheelbarrow Race starting at 7.15pm through the heart of the village.

The Grand Festival Fete was held on both Saturday and Sunday with a wide range of stalls, food and drink, and something for all ages. The differing attractions included Birds of Prey and It’s a Knockout on Saturday.
