A BOY was hurt when he was trapped in a fairground ride at a village scarecrow festival.

Emergency services, including the fire service, were called to the incident at Overton Scarecrow Festival on Satuday, July 16. 

Firefighters rushed to Church Road, Overton, just after 10pm after reports of a boy who had his legs trapped under the tea cup ride.

It was believed that the ride was not operating at the time of the incident.

A spokesperson from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said: "He was released before the crew arrived, given immediate emergency care and then handed into the care of paramedics."
