IN the beautiful sunshine and on the stunning backdrop of Worting House grounds, a Basingstoke business held its first classic car event at the weekend.

On Sunday, July 10, More of the Good Stuff cafe welcomed around 200 people.

Owner Sasha Newman, who previously ran a cafe at Dummer Farm, says she loves to get involved in her community and host events which bring people together.

It was after talking to a friend that the idea of a classic and sports car rally came about, even though she didn’t previously have an interest herself.

Sah said: “It was an amazing day. It was fab.

“It’s the first time I have ever done anything like that, with classic cars. I got in touch with a few classic car groups and one of them advised me to keep it quite small for the first time. “

She continued: “I am happy if my car gets me from A to B! But the vibe of the cafe I have always wanted is for everyone to feel at home. We are very relaxed, very laid back.

“Also, most people don’t know Worting House is here! So it was a really great, social day.”

Sash had 25 cars booked in, ranging from Austin Healeys to Mustangs and even a Model T Ford.

She estimates around 200 people came along for a hot drink and a bacon roll, and to have a look around.

She continued: “The setting was unbelievable, we couldn’t have got better. Two things surprised me: the people who have the classic cars are just so nice, it was a pleasure to have them there; and I could not believe the amount of people who were there. I had to send somebody out to get more bacon!

“We did it with the kind permission of Worting House and will definitely be doing it again.”

The More of the Good Stuff team hopes to host another rally later this year, and then four per year moving forwards.
