BASINGSTOKE and Deane Borough Council have approved plans to build new homes in Tadley despite receiving over 20 letters of objection.

A planning application was submitted to the council to build the six homes on land on the eastern side of Tadley Hill.

The new homes are now set to comprise of two four-bedroom and four three-bedroom homes with parking and amenity space.

One resident who was addressed as Ms Davies said Tadley is “totally over developed” while she also raised concerns about increased traffic.

She said: “As you can see there are 26 letters of objection to this development.

“As a resident in Tadley for pretty much all my life I have seen the village grow into a town and I am someone who understands what needs to change in order to keep up with the times. I believe that if our town needs to grow it should benefit those within it.”

Despite this speaking on behalf of the developer Nicholas Cobbold said “Tadley has not taken the fair share of development over the years”.

Cllr Nicholas Robinson added: “I know that piece of road very well and it will increase congestion but I don’t think it will compromise road safety."

The plans were approved eight votes to four.
