YOUNGSTERS at a school in Basingstoke were treated to a brilliant display of BMX skills when they were visited by a former world champion.

Mike Mullen, six times Halfpipe Champion and former Master World Champion, visited North Waltham Primary School on June 16, as part of the BMX academy.

Mike came to the school to not only demonstrate his amazing BMX skills but to teach the children about the importance of growth mindset and resilience through a series of workshops.

He introduced the concept of not being able to do things YET and the word FLEARN - failing helps us to learn.

Headteacher Jeff Maidment said: “The children had an incredible day and absolutely loved the demonstration and the workshops. The children left the school talking about the importance of perseverance and their new word FLEARN.”
