• A BASINGSTOKE man has admitted to assaulting a woman in the town last month.

On May 27, Daniel Carpenter, of Lindisfarne Close, assaulting the woman by beating her on Sark Way.

At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 6, the 66-year-old admitted to the offence.

He was remanded in custody until his next hearing at the same court on June 27.

  • A BASINGSTOKE man has been forced to pay more than £1,000 after committing driving offences in the town.

On April 3, Sebastian-Dragos Sova, of Penrith Road, drove along Worting Road with 72 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35.

On the same date, the 26-year-old was found to be driving without the relevant insurance.

Sova pleaded guilty to both offences at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on May 31.

He was handed fines of £450 for each offence, plus costs of £85 and a £90 surcharge, making a total of £1,075.

He was also disqualified from driving for 17 months.

  • A BASINGSTOKE man has been fined more than £600 after he failed to give information requested by police in relation to a driver's identity.

On November 2, 2021 in Fareham, Alan Kavanagh of Woolford Way failed to give the information regarding the driver, thought to be guilty of an offence, when asked by the Chief Police Officer of Hampshire.

The 41-year-old was found guilty in his absence on May 15, and was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 7.

He was handed a £660 fine, plus costs of £100 and a £66 surcharge.

Kavanagh was also disqualified from driving for six months.

  • A DRINK driver from Basingstoke has been ordered to complete unpaid work after she was caught driving while nearly three times the legal limit.

Jessica Bigg, of Turner Close, was driving a Mini Cooper along Worting Road on April 7 with 101 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence on May 3 and was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 7.

She was ordered to complete 120 hours of unpaid work, and was disqualified from driving for two years.

Bigg must also pay costs of £85 and a £95 surcharge.

  • A MAN has admitted to possession of a knife and Class A drugs in Basingstoke town centre.

On May 14 2022, Mason Searle of Pershore Road, Basingstoke, was in possession of a locking knife at Castons Yard.

On the same date, the 23-year-old had 0.5g of cocaine on him.

At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 5, Searle pleaded guilty to both offences.

He was remanded on unconditional bail until his next hearing at the same court on July 19.

  • A BASINGSTOKE man will stand trial accused of dangerous driving.

On October 7 2021, Simon Hardy, of Winklebury Centre, allegedly drove a Vauxhall Astra dangerously on Queen’s Road, Farnborough.

At Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on June 7, the 37-year-old pleaded not guilty to the offence.

The case was sent for trial at Winchester Crown Court.

Hardy will appear for his next hearing on July 6.
