Shafeh Asmat and teenager Ben Williams took the individual credit as Hartley Wintney chased own Fair Oak’s 200-8 to win by five wickets at Lapstone Park.

Asmat (3-28) had Oaks deep in trouble at 31-4 before a partial recovery through Harry Reed (38) and Nick Doubell (41). The Fair Oak lower order wagged effectively, with Rhys Oxley striking an unbeaten 31 and Ben Smith, Asad Abbas and Rich Featherstone each adding 21.

Ryan Bone took two for 38 as Oaks closed on 200-8.

Two early wickets by the pacy Freddie Eley Gave Oaks hope at 37-2, but Hartley Wintney built a recovery through Bone (31) and Ben Williams, who scored a boundary strewn half-century on only his third first team appearance.

A crucial fourth-wicket stand of 89 between Williams and Farooq Qureshi followed. Both were out o the spinners.

Williams struck three sixes and ten fours in his 74 and Quresh 24, but Hartley Wintney sixth-wicket pair James Mulvey (19 no) and Jamie Teale (20 no) saw their side home at 203 for five with nearly 19 overs in hand.
