A MAJOR road in Basingstoke will be closed on the multiple days over the course of next month as part of resurfacing works.

A339, that connects Newbury to Alton via Basingstoke, will be closed from June 13 until July 14 as the stretch undergoes resurfacing works.

The roads will be closed from 8pm until 6am each night, but will be open outside of these hours and over the weekend.

The Hampshire County Council will also carry out preparatory works at various locations around Basingstoke as part of the preparatory works.

The closures as part of preparatory works are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 13, and will go on for five days, from 9.30am to 4pm.

Two diversion routes have been highlighted along the A3010 Churchill Way and A340 Aldermaston Road.

The council has also warned that they may have to postpone works at short notice due to weather conditions or other factors outside their control.

Where: A339 Ringway East from the junction with Churchill Way East to the junction with Gresley Road

Where: A339 Ringway North (Westbound) from the junction with A33 Reading Road to the junction with A340 Ringway West

Time of closure: 8pm until 6am

Duration: 10 days

July 11

Where: A339 Ringway North at the junction with Roman Road Roundabout

Time of closure: 8pm until 6am

Duration: 3 days

July 14

Where: A339 Ringway North (Eastbound) from the junction with A340 Ringway East to the junction with A33 Reading Road

Time of closure: 8pm until 6am

Duration: 15 days
