DOUBLE award winner Zack Milton has re-signed for the Basingstoke Bison for next season, writes Graham Merry.

He picked up the Forward of the Year and Young Player of the Year accolades at the end of year awards in his first year with the Herd

The 21-year-old finished his debut Bison campaign as their top British points scorer with 70 points from all games played which included scoring 28 goals.

The former Slough junior made his senior debut for the Bees in season 2017/18 and went on to suit up for them for a further three years. In his last campaign he returned 39 points, making him their top Brit.

In the Covid hit season of 2020/21, Milton played for the Haringey Huskies and produced impressive stats of 12 points in eight games as he hit the net seven times.

Bison head coach Ashley Tait is delighted to have his top British points scorer back for another year and said: “Zack certainly plays beyond his years and has developed as a player from the potential he showed playing against us.

“From a coaching point of view he always has a smile on his face and works really hard. He will only develop into an even better player and so I am really pleased he has re-signed.”

Bison teenage forward Cain Russell who joined the Herd on a two-way deal from the Bristol Pitbulls last season, will this autumn play in North America for the Wisconson Rapids Riverkings in the USPHL Premier.

Tait said: “I spoke to Cain and he said he was looking to go to America and we wish him all the best. He has only just turned 18 but has all the tools to do well there.”
