Residents of a retirement living development in Basingstoke celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee by throwing a special event that was “truly fit for a Queen”.

Friends, family, and locals from across Basingstoke joined the homeowners at the McCarthy Stone’s Island View Retirement Living development on Shortwood Copse Lane for a fun-filled afternoon in the development’s landscaped gardens and communal lounge.

Those who came along enjoyed food, drinks, and live musical entertainment as they shared as they shared in this historic moment.

Verity McKay, divisional marketing manager for McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “The Queen’s Jubilee is an extraordinary event, and it was wonderful to welcome people from across the area to join our celebrations here at Island View.

“Many of our homeowners shared their memories of the Queen’s Coronation all those 70 years ago, which was lovely to hear. Everyone who came along had a fabulous time, the community spirit really shone through. A special day all round!”
