TWO cheques for hundreds of pounds have been handed to a good cause.
The Royal Hampshire County Hospital Cricket Club recently handed over the cheques to two charities following last season's fundraising.
The Hampshire Medical fund received £323 following a match against Whitchurch CC.
A spokesperson said: "A large crowd from Whitchurch attended the game, including the mayor, and were very generous with donations towards the NHS charity, supplying medical equipment across Hampshire Hospitals.
"Whitchurch CC won the match by four wickets in a close affair, eventually overtaking RHCH CC's total in the final over."
Winchester Hospice also received a cheque for £650 following the annual quiz, which was held at Hyde Parish Hall.
Quizzers enjoyed a number of rounds, with very few cricket questions, supplemented by Thai food supplied by local Winchester restaurant, Bangkok Bistro. A team led by local GP Dr Lorne McEwan were the overall winners.
The new RHCH CC season is about to begin with more fundraising planned for the same charities this year.
