A HOUSING developer has revealed its new retirement living development on Station Road in Hook has been named Roslin Place, after residents were able to submit ideas.

The housebuilder called for locals to name the new development, giving them the opportunity to put their stamp on the Hook community. The winning submission was from local resident, Victoria Jarman, who suggested Roslin Place after being inspired by renowned golfer, Justin Rose, who grew up in the area.

Victoria said: “I wanted to choose a name that had a connection to Hook, which is why I took inspiration from professional golfer, Justin Rose, as he spent much of his childhood in the area, and even started out playing at the nearby North Hants Golf Club. As there is set to be beautiful gardens at the development, I thought this tied in nicely. I decided to change it to Roslin, which is another word for rose, to offer something a little different and unique.”

Verity McKay, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone Southern, said: “We wanted to choose a name for our new Hook development that was not only meaningful, but that would also resonate with local people. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Victoria for naming our new development, Roslin Place.”

McCarthy Stone has also revealed a first look of its brand-new Retirement Living development in Hook, with a CGI released to show how Roslin Place will look once complete. Properties are expected to be released for off-plan sales in July 2022.

Verity McKay continued: “We are looking forward to the launch of Roslin Place when apartment specifications and prices will be released. Early birds will benefit from purchasing off-plan by having the pick of all the available plots. It is an incredibly exciting time for our business as interest in the site is high amongst retirees who already live in Hook, as well as with those who are looking to downsize from further afield. We encourage anyone interested in finding out more to get in touch now.”

Once complete, McCarthy Stone’s Hook development will feature 19 one-bedroom and 18 two-bedroom private apartments for people aged 60 and over who are looking for an enjoyable and independent retirement.
