A BASINGSTOKE man was found dead by his friend following emotional distress, an inquest heard.

Claudiu Turculet, of Brewer Close in Buckskin, died on October 7, 2021, at his friend’s home in John Hunt Drive, Popley.

An inquest at Winchester Coroner's Court heard the 49-year-old was found by his friend Teodor Fandarac, who he had been staying with following a relationship breakdown.

The inquest heard that Mr Turculet had earlier been involved in a road traffic incident on October 4, 2021, which saw him write off his car and be arrested for drink driving.

He was released by police, but was anxious about the drink-driving case, the inquest heard.

He moved to Mr Fandarac's house following this incident.

On the morning of October 7, Mr Fandarac left for work, but when he returned at 5.15pm he found Mr Turculet dead.

Senior coroner Christopher Wilkinson said: “Claudiu had a break up in his relationship and he was clearly distressed. He was also anxious about the RTI he was involved in and the subsequent arrest.

“Unfortunately, these incidents compounded one upon the other he sadly took his own life.

“I don’t believe there is any third-party involvement and I don’t find this an accidental event.”
