'ARMED police' were spotted making enquiries on a residential street as part of an ongoing murder investigation in Basingstoke.

Residents of Dollery Way reported seeing the officers on the evening of Sunday, May 22.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We can confirm officers were making enquiries in the Dollery Way area as part of our investigation into the death of a man in Musgrave Close on Sunday 22 May.

"No arrests were made and our enquiries are ongoing."

As previously reported, police launched a murder investigation yesterday (Monday) after the death of a man who was found with serious injuries at a house in the Brighton Hill area of Basingstoke.

Officers attended the address in Musgrave Close after being called at 11.14pm on May 22.

A man in his 30s was found inside the address. He had sustained significant injuries and was later pronounced dead. His next-of-kin have been informed.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances of what took place. No arrests have been made at this stage.
