ONE of the largest business centres in Basingstoke has been acquired by two developers as part of their plans to create a major job-creating build-to-rent (BTR) scheme in the town.

The View Point in Basing View, which comprises a 59,000 sq ft office building and multi-storey car park on a 1.95-acre plot, has been acquired by Packaged Living and Buccleuch Property.

Packaged Living is a build-to-rent developer, and Buccleuch Property is a property investment and development company.

Ed Ellerington, founder and managing director of Packaged Living, said: "We are delighted to have partnered with Buccleuch to redevelop this dilapidated and redundant office building into Basingstoke's premier, institutional grade BTR scheme, which in turn will encourage more young professionals into the town supporting its economic growth.

"Basing View is a highly attractive commercial hub, and we hope by working with the local authority we can really add to the location as a destination to live and work creating a 'best in class' community for residents."

Sandy Smith, development director of Buccleuch Property, added: "We are really looking forward to working with Packaged Living and Basingstoke & Dean Borough Council to bring forward Basingstoke's first institutional grade BTR scheme."
