A SCHOOL in Basingstoke has hosted a colour run, raising funds to create a new social outdoor space.

The Hurst School in Baughurst, Tadley hopes students can use the space in the summer months.

Over 160 students from the schools years 7-11 groups completed the 3km event and although sponsorship money is still being collected, the school hopes the event will raise £2,000.

After a fun warm-up to music, led by Head of PE, Simon Randall-Bird, students began running the course in year groups, completing three laps of the school field. At various points on the course, the students had coloured powder thrown at them by the teachers.

Several teachers also took part in the event.

Headteacher Jayne McLaren said: “It was a fantastic event and the first we have been able to hold for the entire school to participate in since Covid.

"The students really enjoyed themselves and the money raised will create better outdoor areas and equipment for students to enjoy their social time.”

The school is also delighted to be a beneficiary of the Tadley and Baughurst Scarecrow Trail which takes place in August.

The money donated from the event will be added to the final total raised by the school.
