POLICE have issued an appeal for information following a suspected arson attack at a Basingstoke play area.

As previously reported, changing facilities at the popular Chineham Park splash park have been left 'irreparable' following a suspected arson incident.

On Sunday, May 15, the accessible toilet and baby changing facilities are thought to have been targetted by vandals.

Posting to Facebook on Monday, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council wrote: "We were disappointed to find that the accessible toilet and baby changing facility at the Chineham Park splash park was damaged by fire yesterday and is now irreparable.

"This act of vandalism obviously has a financial cost but more importantly will affect the children and families using the water park while we arrange for a replacement."

"The incident is reportedly said to have taken place between 12pm and 7pm on Sunday 15 May.
