SHOCKING footage shows the recovery operation on the M3 near Basingstoke earlier today (May 15) after a collision involving two vehicles.

Two lanes of the M3 were closed on Sunday morning at Basingstoke following a 'multi-vehicle crash'.

Traffic was queuing as emergency services attended the scene on the M3 northbound near Junction 6.

AA Traffic News reported that a "multi-vehicle crash" had occurred, "involving an overturned vehicle".

In a Tweet, National Highways South East wrote: "There are two lanes closed on the M3 eastbound between J6 and J5 near Basingstoke due to a multi-vehicle collision. Emergency services are at the location and Traffic Officers are assisting with traffic management. Please allow extra time for your journey."

Police later confirmed that there were 'no serious injuries'.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "We were called at 8.40am this morning (Sunday 15 May) to reports of a collision involving two vehicles on the M3 northbound at Junction 6.

"No serious injuries have been reported at the current time.

"We remain at the scene while the road is cleared.

"Lanes one and two are currently closed, however lane three remains open."

All lanes reopened at 10.40am and queues eased.
