BRITISH forward Zack Milton was a double winner at this year’s Basingstoke Bison award night, writes Graham Merry.

The sharp shooter picked up the awards for Forward of the Year and Young Player of the Year in his debut season, which saw him amass 70 points.

Alex Roberts another new boy to the team this term was the Supporters’ Player of the Year.

The Canadian forward finished just shy of 100 points hitting the net 52 times.

The prestigious Players’ Player award went to netminder Alex Mettam.

The goalie recorded the only shut-out for the Bison this season and by the end of the campaign had spent just over 2,700 minutes in goal and faced just shy of 1,500 shots.

Fans’ favourite and utility player Liam Morris won the Coaches Player of the Year.

Young British defenceman Tom Banner was the Most Improved Player.

The 19-year-old former Bison junior stepped up to the senior team mid season, he picked up an assist in both of the last two play-off games.

The defenceman of the Year award was won by ‘Mr Dependable’ of the blue line brigade Scotsman Jay King.

The Alan Parrott Award for outstanding contribution to the club went to Carol and Gary Blakemore for all the work they put into the Bison Booster Club.

Meanwhile on the team front, British forward Adam Harding will not be returning after signing a two year deal to be player/ assistant coach with the league’s new boys Bristol Pitbulls.
