Cllr Tim Southern, who has been re-elected for a four-year term, said: "I am very pleased - I got about 65.5% of the vote so that's a good sign!

"I want to continue the good work that has been going on in this ward and making sure my bit of Hart is well looked after."

Cllr Southern, who was first elected 12 years ago, added: "There is no particular need for large amounts of housing in Hart at the moment, so the first thing is making sure that planning is done responsibly. And also making sure that green spaces in Hartley Wintney are properly looked after.

"The roads are in a mess, so we will be liaising with the county council, and we have a Conservative county councillor who is working very hard on this."

Cllr Jane Worlock, who has also been re-elected for a 4-year term, said: "It was a close result with the Liberal Democrats and I would like to say thank you for everyone who voted for me. I am thrilled to be able to continue serving the people of Hook and Rotherwick.

"I have a responsibility towards them to continue the projects and work I have done over the past four years, and I have an even bigger responsibility to those who did not vote for me."

Cllr Worlock added that some of her priorities will be campaigning against "unnecessary development", the regeneration of Hook centre, and plans for a sports pavilion in north-east Hook.

"There is a masterplan in place, and one of my priorities will be to start implementing that masterplan to make Hook a wonderful place to live."
