WILL Forster reckons switching his practice base to Waterlooville Sports Bar helped him secure a second winner’s trophy on the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour.

The 16-year-old from Wickham defeated Mason Wilson (Basingstoke) 2-1 in the final of the seventh leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

Although not entirely happy with his performance on the day, Forster explained how moving to the Waterlooville club has helped his overall game.

He said: “I played pretty well – not my best – but I’m glad to win.

“I’ve been playing at Waterlooville the last week or two. It helps playing on better tables and against better players. I think that has improved my matchplay.

“I’ve practised with Connor Benzey and Jamie Wilson so that’s helped my game.

“It’s improved my safety!”

At the same Chandler’s Ford club the previous day, Forster went into second place in the race for the £500 first prize in the 26-week handicapped Open Series.

Wilson - who is sponsored by PK Physio, Smart Impressions, Speccies Warehouse, CLA Decorators, and Herbal Health & Home and is now based at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Newbury – chalked up a 56 break in his 2-0 last-four success over ten-year-old Asten Sahota (Southampton).

Forster, now fourth in the rankings, won by the same score in the second semi against 12-year-old Harry Wyatt (Ferndown), who is joint second with Samuel Laxton (Portsmouth).

Rankings champion John Donovan (London) made a group-stage exit following defeats by both finalists in the event sponsored by Pitman Training.

Meanwhile, Mickey Joyce (Basingstoke) lost 3-0 to Oliver Sykes (Chandler's Ford) in the Gold Tour semi-finals.
