A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a Basingstoke man who attended appointments drunk after release from prison.

Alexander McKay Ward, of May Place, failed to attend a planned appointment on February 9, having previously attended his appointments on January 19 and 26 intoxicated.

The 68-year-old also sent an “inappropriate text message” on January 28 and is said to have have behaved in a way which “undermines the rehabilitative process”.

On April 13 at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court, a warrant was issued for his arrest on the grounds that he had breached his community penalty.

A HGV driver from Basingstoke has been forced to pay more than £2,000 after he committed a series of driving offences in Greater London.

On January 26, Grant Alan Fisher, of Verdi Close, drove a HGV on Crown Road, Sutton, without the relevant test certificate.

He was also found to have taken just twenty-one hours and forty-eight minutes rest break after six daily driving periods, when the legal minimum is 24 hours.

The 31-year-old admitted to the offences at Croydon Magistrates Court last month.

He also pleaded guilty to entering Collingwood Road with a vehicle weighing 15T when the limit in place was 7.5T, and driving without a front projection mirror on roads included in the London Safer Lorry Scheme.

He was handed two fines of £998 each, and forced to pay a surcharge of £200 and costs of £85, making a total of £2,281.

A LORRY driver from Basingstoke has been forced to pay more than £400 after driving a HGV more than three times the legal weight.

Mark Christopher Kitchen, of Basingfield Close, Basingstoke, was driving on Mill Lane Newbury on September 14 in a vehicle with an axle weight of 23.7 tonnes.

The maximum permitted axle weight is 7.5 tonnes.

On April 8 at Reading Magistrates’ Court, the offence was proven in Kitchen’s absence.

The 56-year-old was handed a £220 fine and must also pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £180.

A BASINGSTOKE man has been fined for causing a collision through dangerous driving on The Harrow Way.

Wojciech Ryszard Klisz, of Wella Road, was driving on the road on February 6 2020.

The 27-year-old was not paying “due care and attention” and turned right onto Lister Road, in front of oncoming traffic.

He collided with another vehicle, which had right of way.

He was also found to be driving without the correct license or relevant insurance.

At Aldershot Magistrates’ Court on April 6 2022, Klisz pleaded guilty to the offences and was handed an £80 fine.

He must also pay a surcharge of £32 and costs of £45.

Additionally, six penalty points were applied to his license.
