AN OFFICIAL cause of a fire which ripped through farm building near Basingstoke has yet to be confirmed but early signs suggest it was caused by an electrical fault, according to the fire service.

More than 50 firefighters tackled a blaze in an agricultural barn in Andwell on April 14.

A large smoke plume was visible as crews approached the scene and was seen by residents across Basingstoke.

The fire service said there were no casualties involved and nearby farm animals were removed from the vicinity of the blaze.

An investigation into how the fire was started is ongoing and no official caused has been confirmed, but the fire service said that “early signs suggested it was caused by an electrical fault”.
