A MODEL engineering society hosted the tenth Steam Gala last weekend providing two days of family fun entertainment.
Basingstoke and District Model Engineering Society held the Gala from April 9 to 10 at the Viables Craft Centre in Basingstoke.
There were lots of fun activities for the whole family to enjoy, including around a thousand train rides, a steam train, traction engine rides, a tombola, and a pond for model boats.

The society was established in the 1970’s, by a small group of like-minded individuals who are now a well-established model engineering club with facilities to run steam locomotives, traction engines and small scale rolling stock.
The club prides itself in having an elevated track for running locomotives of two standard gauges and a smaller garden railway loop for smaller locomotives.

They are always looking for new members and you don’t have to be an engineer to join.
Their current members represent a wide range of backgrounds and interests.
