TRAVELLERS have been warned to expect changes to rail services between Basingstoke and London Waterloo  today (Monday, April 11) after reports that someone has been struck by a train.

South Western Railways has announced that, due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Clapham Junction and Woking, all lines are closed. 

Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised, with disruption expected until 3pm.

Posting to its website, SWR wrote: "We have received reports that a person has been struck by a train between Wimbledon and Surbiton. Our response teams are working with the emergency services to assist with the incident.

"In order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the track will need to be switched off in the affected area.

"We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey."

To assist you with your journey your ticket will be accepted, at no extra cost, on the following services:

  • Southern Railway services between between
  • Clapham Junction - Dorking in both directions
  • Clapham Junction - Portsmouth Harbour / Southampton Central in both direction.
  • GWR services between London Paddington and Basingstoke via Reading in both directions.
  • London underground services via any reasonable route.
  • TfL buses on any reasonable route

There are also replacement buses running between Clapham Junction and Woking in both directions.
