BREWDOG has announced an opening date for its branch in Basingstoke.

The craft beer chain announced last year that it is bringing one of its iconic bars to the town and has now revealed that it will open on Friday, April 8 at 12pm.

The chain, which is carbon negative, has been refitting the unit in Festival Place over the last few months.

BrewDog, which offers guest breweries alongside cocktails, wines, spirits and an alcohol-free range, is taking over the unit previously occupied by Coal Grill and Bar, which closed in January after opening in Basingstoke more than a decade ago.

Famed for its IPA, BrewDog started as an independent brewery in Scotland and now serves a range of draft beer on tap, as well as offering a menu including burgers, spicy wings, salads and plant-based junk food.

Festival Place previously told the Gazette that it had handed over the unit to BrewDog in February.

A spokeswoman said bringing BrewDog to the town was a “real coup” for the shopping centre.
