A MAN who was caught speeding near Chineham has been hit with points on his licence.

Jonathan Stratton, from Totton, was caught driving at 59mph while behind the wheel of a BMW on the A33 Reading Road – the speed limit is 50mph. The offence took place on May 4, last year.

The 42-year-old admitted to the offence during a magistrates court hearing.

Magistrates endorsed his licence with three points and fined him £66. He must also pay a £34 victim surcharge.

No order for court costs was made to keep the amount in line with a fixed penalty fine.

A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of an Odiham man who is alleged to have driven while over the limit for a specified drug.

Samuel Blackburn, 30 and of Runnymede Drive, is accused of having 336µg/L of Benzoylecgonine - metabolite of cocaine – in his blood - the legal limit is 50. The incident is alleged to have taken place on January 4 on the A287 Crondall.

Magistrates have issued a warrant for him without bail.

A KINGSCLERE man has been banned from driving for 20 months after he was caught over the drink drive limit.

Edward Chubb, of Argyle Road, was caught drink driving while behind the wheel of a Nissan Leaf on Little Knowl Hill, Kingsclere, on February 6. He had 80 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35.

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates also fined him £576 and ordered him to pay £85 court costs, along with a £58 victim surcharge.

MAGISTRATES have disqualified a Basingstoke man from driving after he was caught behind the wheel while over the alcohol limit.

Mark Wright, of Ferndown Close, was caught while driving a Ford C-max on the A339 between Alton and Basingstoke. He had a 45 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35. The offence took place on February 20.

The 45-year-old admitted to the offence at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £120. He must also pay £45 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.

A BASINGSTOKE man alleged to have possessed prohibited images of children has had his case sent to crown court.

Dean Clayton, of Daneshill Court, Lychpit, is accused of possessing 66 prohibited images of children between August 28, 2019, and November 3, 2019.

He is also alleged to have possessed four extreme pornographic images between July 24, 2016, and August 28, 2019.

He faces three charges of making indecent photographs of a child – categories A, B and C – between December 2013 and November 2019.

The 35-year-old will now appear at Winchester Crown Court on April 6.

A MAN who caught behind the wheel of a car while over the limit for a controlled drug has been banned from driving for three years.

Luke Briggs, 25, was caught on Winklebury Way, Basingstoke, on December 30, last year, he had 352 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine - metabolite of cocaine – in his blood – the legal limit is 50.

On the same occasion he was also found to have 4.1 micrograms of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his blood – the legal limit is two.

Briggs, from Oxfordshire, admitted to the offence during a hearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court.

He was also fined £155 and must pay £85 court costs, along with a £34 victim surcharge.

A MAN who attempted to sexually communicate with a child will be sentenced at crown court next month.

Mark Lee, of Andover Road, Deane, attempted to engage in sexual communication with a child under 16 for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification between March 14 and March 20, last year.

The 55-year-old sent sexually explicit messages and images.

He will also be sentenced on another charge of engaging in sexual communication with a child on the same dates.

He will appear at Winchester Crown Court on April 4 when he will be sentenced.
