More than 200 additional burial plots and a range of new upgrades have opened at North Watford Cemetery.
Watford Borough Council, which manages the Green Flag award winning space, says the investment will provide sufficient burial land for the next 13 years for those communities who wish to be buried in that part of the town.
It comes following previous improvements including the lodge extension and landscaping of the grounds.
What's new at the Cemetery?
Upgrades include a new ‘Centenary Memorial Garden’ featuring above ground memorials (columbaria) for up to 200 ashes remains and an Ornamental Memorial tree with engraved leaves.
Improvements have also been made to the main entrance of the Cemetery while the pond has been enhanced.
Two panoramic above ground memorials have also been created to hold cremated remains of small pets for people who would like a more permanent memorial and place to visit.
A total of 275 additional burial plots were also officially opened.
Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “North Watford Cemetery is a much-loved and important facility that I know brings comfort to many people. It is good that we have been able to provide this additional burial space, as well as alternative ways for people to remember their loved ones.
