A PERSONAL trainer from Basingstoke has turned around his life by opening his own gym after finding his passion and livelihood being put on hold during the pandemic.

Cameron Ralph has opened his gym ‘The Strength Centre’ at West Ham Industrial Estate.

The Basingstoke resident had been facing his share of hardships since the start of the pandemic. But instead of admitting defeat during the third lockdown, Cameron made the decision to move from the comfort of the gym he was working at, to go independent.

Cameron took the baby steps to success by converting his home garage into a fitness space and investing in his own equipment.

With the home gym measuring at a cosy 4.5m long and 2.55m wide, after a while Cameron felt like he needed to expand.

He finally took a plunge late last year and invested in an industrial unit to open his very own gym.

Cameron said: “Instead of reverting my progress, I took the plunge and looked into getting an industrial unit of my own. I had a decent amount of kit already, so I felt like this was the next step to becoming the head of my own Basingstoke gym with employees and building a really successful health, fitness and well-being brand.

“Hard work helped me successfully expand the business at such a turbulent time. Hard work from our clients wanting to succeed and wanting to learn more about health, fitness, movement and well-being. Then, the hard work and persistence from myself.

“There’s never a right time to do it. There were numerous reasons not to. But, I kept focus and realised this time will pass. So far, this January has boomed with newcomers wanting to get into health and fitness, so this has been prime for the business.”
