FOR THE second time this season the Basingstoke Bison beat the league leading Telford Tigers on home ice.

In a very entertaining and nail biting contest last Saturday, the two sides traded chances, but the Herd’s Alex Mettam and Tigers Bradley Day were in excellent form to deny them.

The deadlock in the contest was finally broken at 31:20, as Ashley Tait buried a rebound from an Alex Roberts shot.

The visitors levelled things up 20 minutes later from Scott McKenzie, which forced the game into overtime.

The Tigers then had the first chance in the extra period, as McKenzie was denied by the post and straight from this Adam Harding and George Norcliffe combined for Liam Morris to fire home the Bison winner at 60:33.

On Sunday night, in Slough against the Bees, the Herd cruised to a 6-1 victory.

They never looked back after taking a 3-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, as Alex Sampford, man of the match Roberts and Aidan Doughty all scored.

The second session saw Hallam Wilson extend the advantage further.

Bison netminder Mettam was then beaten for the only time on the night at 40:38 by Josh Martin, but the visitors hit back as

Harding and Roberts completed the 6-1 win.

The under-14 Bison moved eight points clear of second placed Cardiff after a 4-3 win in Wales. Lelio Bellamy led the way with a brace and there were single strikes from Ethan Wiltshire and Ellis Austin.

Roman Cathcart fired in a hat-trick as the under-16s won 8-5 in Guildford. The other goals came from Marcus Bradley and Charlie Roche with two each and Oliver Hemming-Maher returned 1+6.
