A BASINGSTOKE man will stand trial after he denied possessing a firearm without a license following an anti-terror operation in Rooksdown.

Simon Tustain, of Penny Black Lane, was arrested after homes were evacuated in September 2021 as part of searches carried out by Hampshire police and Counter Terrorism Policing South East.

His case was adjourned for a psychiatric assessment, but, appearing at Winchester Crown Court today (Monday, February 7) the 25-year-old son of Basingstoke Labour councillor Jacky Tustain pleaded not guilty to the charge of illegally possessing an antique pistol.

He will stand trial on February 23 at Salisbury Crown Court.
