DEAR Editor, On my bus trips to town and back, I have followed the progress, of the conversion of a Brighton Way footpath to cycle track and footpath.

From the early days, of fencing it off, installing offices, and the delivery of mountains of aggregate. There was plenty of activity, as the old paving slabs were lifted, I once saw 10 ‘high vizzed’ people outside the offices, but then it all went quiet.

I occasionally see a digger, dumper, or roller, attended by a couple of ‘high vizzed’ people, but not much seems to happen. Is it finished? The 16 weeks allocated are up.

The company involved, is a division of the main contractor, who has forecast the Brighton Hill roundabout revamp, will be completed by winter 2023. The thought of two years of disruption on the roundabout is truly horrifying, and will it improve traffic flow? Look at the Black Dam revamp, is that an improvement on its predecessor?

But Hampshire County Council love their grandiose infrastructure projects, after all, it’s only our money. They can just keep increasing the council tax to pay for them.
