A DRINK driver who failed to stop at the scene of an accident that he was involved in has been jailed for eight weeks.
On January 3 Engelhardt Masaonganda Mas Kahuure, 28, drove a Volvo C30 on the M5 in Gloucestershire when he was involved in an accident.
Kahuure, of Priestly Road, caused damage to a Seat Leon and a Mercedes GLB 200 AMG, and failed to stop at the scene. He also failed to report the incident and did not have a licence and insurance.
The court was told that he was also above the drink drive limit with 61 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – the legal limit is 35. He also obstructed a police officer in the execution of his duty.
During a hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court he pleaded guilty to all the offences.
Magistrates jailed Kahuure for eight weeks because the offences were so serious. He was also banned from driving for three years and must pay £128 to victim services.
