A man has been fined and banned from the roads for a year after drug driving on the M3 at Basingstoke.

Stephen Levers, 42, of Skerries Road in Southway, Plymouth, was caught driving a Ford Connect van with cocaine and Benzoylecgonine in his system on July 14, 2021.

The proportion of cocaine in his blood was 53 microgrammes in a 100 millitres, which is over five times the legal limit of 10 microgrammes in a 100 millitres of blood. 

The proportion of Benzoylecgonine, major metabolite of cocaine, in his your blood was 384 microgrammes in a 100 millitres of blood. 

The legal limit is 50 microgrammes in a 100 millitres of blood. 

Levers pleaded guilty to both charges at Plymouth District Magistrates' Court on January 10 this year. 

He was fined £80 in total, and has to pay an additional £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service, and £34 to fund victim services. 

The total to is to pay is £199, and he must pay £20.00 per month starting from January 25. 

Levers has also been given a 12 month driving ban.
