BASINGSTOKE’s first ever vegan cafe will be opening its doors to the public tomorrow (Monday, January 24).

Vemillion, Basingstoke’s first 100 per cent Vegan Café, is located at Chineham Shopping Centre between Greek Street and Subway, and is set to offer tasty treats and filling nutritious lunches.

The new eatery has been in the works since November 2021, with the team now raring to go.

Since getting the keys, they have been working hard to do the place up, ready to welcome customers from 12 noon tomorrow.

A spokesperson for the cafe said: “Vemillion is Basingstoke’s first 100 per cent Vegan Coffee shop/café. However, we certainly don’t want to be exclusive to just vegans. We want to be known for our great food and amazing service whilst offering a more sustainable way to eat and drink. All of our packaging is biodegradable, and we use glass over plastics.”

Expanding on their business values, they continued: “We would love to become a renowned destination for people to visit, as well as food and drink we will also be selling some other unique products. Our whole shop is covered in Original African Artwork which is all hand painted and hand signed. Our sister company works a lot with a charity in Ghana - the artists over there rely on selling their art to volunteers and tourists but due to Covid hardly anyone has visited in the last two years and the families have really struggled. Vemillion have purchased a large quantity of amazing pieces up front providing a welcome relief to a number of artists. As well as our amazing art we also sell a number of unique and one-off pieces from candles to jewellery. These items will change on a regular basis and should provide another great reason to give us a visit!

“We are hoping this will be the first of many locations for us and we hope to create a strong brand that is easily recognisable to everyone. We will provide a great mix of healthy food and delicious treats. From jacket potatoes to sandwiches, paninis, to ice cream milkshakes and our really tasty allergen free equivalent to Mr Whippy’s, to our amazing coffee and freshly made cakes! We have a number of options to cater for all diets including gluten free.”
