A BASINGSTOKE-based charity has received £1,000 financial support from a housebuilder.
Basingstoke NeighbourCare, a charity providing vital services to more than 500 local residents, received the donation from Barratt Homes as part of the housebuilder’s Community Fund initiative.
NeighbourCare’s initiatives include transporting people to medical appointments and therapy sessions, Covid-19 vaccination centres, to see loved ones, or simply taking them shopping. The charity also offers a befriending service for lonely and isolated members of the community.

The donation is expected to allow its volunteers to continue providing support to vulnerable residents throughout the winter.
Peter Robson, chair of NeighbourCare, said: “We would like to thank Barratt Southern Counties for this donation. We rely on ongoing support from a variety of sources across the community and this will help the running of the charity.”
Kimberley Benson, sales and marketing director at Barratt Southern Counties, said: “We are proud to support a charity like NeighbourCare through our Community Fund, and understand how important it is to ensure that some of the most vulnerable members of our society are supported, particularly throughout the winter months that often prove most challenging. We hope our donation goes a little way in enabling the charity’s services to run over the coming weeks.”
