A DEVELOPER is applying for planning application for access from a bridleway in Oakley to build 32 properties on the adjacent land.

Cooper Estates Strategic Land Limited have submitted a planning application for the access permission from Sainfoin Lane in Oakley, but it is not yet on the council platform because of backlog during the festive period.

Sainfoin Lane is a bridleway, and a previous application by the same developer for the installation of square edged kerb along eastern edge of the road was refused.

The developer has now published a public notice under Article 13 asking landowners or tenants to write to council at Planning Department, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Civic Offices, London Road, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG21 4AH.

When the planning application goes live on the council portal, the public can submit their responses online or by writing to the planning department.

Sainfoin Lane was one of the sites identified by the Neighbourhood Planning Group in Oakley in 2014 before a consultation was held to find where they would like new homes to be built.

Numbers given to the landowners were 15 dwellings at Andover Road, 25 at Beech Tree, 45 at Park Farm, 35 at Sainfoin Lane and 30 at Oakley Hall.

A total of 1,911 villagers had voted in the consultation, representing approximately 43 per cent of total population, to decide on where they would prefer 150 homes to be built in Oakley.

The results showed that 63 per cent of respondents believe new development should be spread across multiple sites, and 45 per cent of voters said they would like development to take place over as many sites as possible.
