POLICE have released CCTV images after a group of men allegedly failed an attempt to steal an ATM from a Co-Op store in Oakley earlier this week (December 29).

Hampshire Police were called just after 3am to reports that a group of five to six men had attempted to steal the ATM at the Co-op store on Oakley Lane but were unsuccessful.

The men in the CCTV images can be seen wearing face coverings and hoods and officers are keen to speak to anyone that may recognise them or their clothing.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Police, said: "We were called just after 3am on Wednesday 29 December to reports that a group of men had attempted to steal an ATM from the store on Oakley Lane.

"The men in the CCTV images are wearing face coverings and hoods, but officers are keen to speak to anyone that may recognise the people or their clothing.

"Were you in the area at the time? Did you see anything suspicious?

"Do you have any dash-cam footage that could help our investigation?

"Do you remember seeing a Land Rover Defender and Subaru Forester in the area around the time of the incident?

"The Land Rover was stolen from an address on Green Springs, Crondall, before the incident in Oakley. 

"Did you see anything suspicious on that road at around 1.45am on 29 December? 

"Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting the reference 44210518164.

"Alternatively, please contact Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111."

As previously reported by The Gazette the glass at the front of the store had been smashed and the door was hanging off.
