A FUNDRAISER has been launched by Basingstoke and District Cat Protection to help cover the treatment for four-year-old Pepsi the cat.

The fundraiser has raised £250 so far, with a target of £2,625 needed to cover the cost of Pepsi's treatment.

Pepsi was taken to Basingstoke and District Cat protection last October after being found with a very smelly ear. After further investigation at the vets, where he was neutered, chipped and checked over, Pepsi was found with a polyp in his ear canal.

Before having a "vertical ear ablation" to remove the lump and part of his ear canal, it was confirmed he had a benign polyp and not a cancerous growth, however the costs of Pepsi's treatment was not cheap, with a figure of £2,625 needed to cover the cost.

Said to be coping "really well" with his tablets, painkillers and cream, Pepsi currently bears a cone on his head and is now back with his foster carer Lucy before being placed in his forever home in a few weeks.

Basingstoke and District Cat Protection said: "The cost of Pepsi’s treatment wasn’t cheap, so we have set up this appeal to try to recoup some of the funds. Any money received over and above our target will go towards helping other cats that come into care at our branch."
