THE BOOSTER hub at Basingstoke Hospital will be open today to help residents stay safe over the festive season.

The site at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital opened last week on Friday, December 17 to help the vaccination programme and has since vaccinated hundreds of people every day.

The hospital took to social media to let residents know the hub will be open today on Christmas Eve (December 24) and no appointments are needed.

They tweeted: “To help you stay safe this festive season we are delighted to say that our COVID booster hub at Basingstoke hospital will be a walk in centre *all day* tomorrow from 0830 to 16:00 so come and #GetBoostedNow.”

The vaccination site will be open from 8.30am to 4pm.

The hub sees staff from Hampshire Hospitals Foundation Trust (HHFT) vaccinating hundreds of people who walk through the door every day.

On Monday, December 20 the team delivered 746 boosters to the community.

The news comes after Louise Fox, associate director of nursing, told The Gazette that residents are still getting vaccinated despite it being the festive season.

She said: “What has surprised me is how patients have been responsible in trying to get appointments.

“The fact that people are still coming in with the lead-up to Christmas when they have lots of other stuff going on is an absolute testament to the fact we all just really want to fight and get over this.”
